About Better Speaking Together
Suddenly thrust into an unfamiliar sea of sounds, where years of honed linguistic acumen no longer suffice to achieve their goals, young learners transitioning into a fluency-first CLT classroom can benefit immensely from materials that are immediately accessible, thematically challenging, and vibrantly playful.
The Better Speaking Together series was crafted for young learners taking their first steps into a dynamic English environment. We believe that it is neither respectful to children nor optimal for growth to demand a 100% English learning environment. Something around 95% seems ideal. Such an environment has a steep learning curve, and the first year will be the most challenging. With persistence, in a comfortable environment with well-crafted materials, the snowball begins to grow as it slides happily downhill, and highly fluent, confident English speakers will emerge.
Combined with alphabet practice (writing), high-frequency vocabulary practice, lots of picture books (reading and conversation), and plenty of opportunities to sing, dance, and hop around their learning space, this series can help lay a firm foundation for personal, professional, and academic success.

In this series, students internalize decoding strategies by gradually adding phonemic chunks together. Piece by piece, they assemble words into confident productions.
With regular cumulative reviews and opportunities for young learners to feel the pride of success, these colorful pages make the journey into reading sentences an exciting one.
This page was taken from ALPHA, but the basic format remains consistent throughout. Activity pages are included, prompting students to fill in the missing letters and get the words to work well!
